Our family is from Istanbul. One of the most magical, bustling and exotic cities in the world. Street food is sold at every corner, bursting with delicious flavours, smells and experiences.
One of our favourites is the kumpir. An XXL oven-baked potato topped with fresh vegetables, salads, and a generous serving of King sauce. Our King-sauce is homemade, according to our own recipe and unique of taste. Every vendor has their own variation and special touch.
Outside of Turkey, this type of baked potato is not very well known. But we want it to be.
In 2004, our family served the first kumpir in Amsterdam. People here love our XXL potatoes too! We want to conquer the kumpir world from Amsterdam. We want everyone to enjoy our favourite vegetarian dish.
We have one important rule: if we don’t like it ourselves, it’s not on our menu. It’s all about quality and flavour for us. Our potatoes come directly from the cooperative and we select only the very best.
Our falafel is also fresh and homemade. You’ll taste the difference. We make our own sauces, using fresh herbs and ingredients. If it’s not fresh, it’s not in our kitchen.
We use as many local products as we can. Our potatoes are produced sustainably in the Netherlands and Spain. Our Dutch cooperative is even known for being a leader in this area.
We buy just enough fresh produce as we hate throwing things away. This means that we may have to say no in our restaurants if we’ve run out of fresh ingredients. You get that, right?
